Instagram Updates From the F8 Summit

Instagram is exploding with the app reaching 1 billion monthly active users.

What’s Coming Up With The New Features??? Tom Harness gives a quick update for us.

💡No More Instagram Likes? Not quite, they will be running a test in Canada where they hide the option from the main feed, permalink and profiles. They want to see if people will focus on photos and videos and not how many likes. (Where’s the positive reinforcement?) It would be great to see what our friends over at Social Media Lab by Agorapulse think about this.

💡No more Product URL’s – link products directly through post images

💡Fundraising – 100% of funds raised will go directly to non-profit. This feature will be similar to adding an option to a Facebook Post. Instagram will be using donation stickers.

💡New Camera Design around the Create Mode – nothing set in stone so keep a look out on for the update to download. Many of you will notice a striking similarity to Facebook’s Color Block.

💡Polling for Sponsored Stories. Along with polling you will have access to use the Sticker Effects.

💡Testing a 14 day hold on a name change to allow you a grace period to revert back.

💡Testing a Co-Watching Video Tool

💡Testing Scrubbing option to fast forward to a specific part of a video
