Dance has played a huge part in shaping me into the woman I am today. Ever since I was a little girl, my mom would put on music and find me shaking my hips to the beat.
As I continue through life, I have become aware of just how much my dance career has affected my career as a Social Media Specialist.
Teamwork is Key
My dance coach always told us, “When you perform, you want to look like one person moving across the floor, not as individual dancers.”
Teamwork, on and off the dance floor, is a crucial element to drive success. Everyone brings something different to the table. However, it is how you can use your individual talents to better your team that makes everything worthwhile.
Continue to Practice and Learn
A motto that I have lived my dance career by would be “You’re only as strong as your weakest link.” In order to become a great and well rounded dancer, you want to improve your skill set and continue to perfect your craft.
Social media is considered to be the new frontier when it comes to advertising and branding your business. With new trends appearing everyday, don’t stay stuck in the past. Continue to expand your knowledge and apply what you’ve learned to add to your business’s success.
Learn from Your Mistakes and Continue to Grow
Every dancer has to fall, but it is their choice whether they stay down in defeat or rise up to become stronger.
The same aspect is true for social media. A campaign could not go as well as you expected or you could have made some spelling errors on a post. First thing to do is tell yourself “it’s okay.” Second, ask yourself how you are going to fix it. It’s important to realize that mistakes don’t last forever, so don’t dwell on them.
Dance and social media. Two different worlds that would not seem like they would cross paths. As I continue my career in the social media marketing field, I will use what I have learned from my 17 years of dance in my everyday life.
