Snapchat – The Video Gateway Drug To Get You To Do More Video Content
It is quite evident that EVERYONE is addicted to social media. One of the most addictive social media platforms is Snapchat. One of the key successes to it is that it allows you to create 10 second videos that disappear after being viewed. You can adjust how many times someone sees it or replays it, but it goes bye bye.
If you find yourself not very comfortable doing VIDEO, snapchat is a great gateway option to get you started. It took me a while to feel comfortable in front of a camera, let alone doing video. I kept asking myself:
- What if I look stupid? (too late, I wear the Ugly Christmas Suits)
- I don’t like my voice? (God gave it to you and everybody has a unique sound)
- What if people don’t like me? (you weren’t placed on this planet to have everyone like you)
All that changed when I broke down and decided to embrace Snapchat. I started out by doing:
- Short portrait videos of absolutely nothing (Very Seinfeld)
- Posing questions for feedback
- Highlighting events I was attending
- (Full-Disclosure) Things I would only share with close friends like Kevin Hunsperger
As I started to build my personal brand, I began to transition some of my snaps to:
- Items I was promoting or branding (Shinesty Suits, RSVLTS Hats, #CatchTheTiguan Campaign)
- Educate my audience on some of the organizations I was involved with (Southern Illinois Honor Flight, Honor Wreaths, Honor Guard, and others)
- Highlight some of the music I like through Car Karaoke
Video on Snapchat is easy, 10 seconds (Hold down for longer ones), and surprisingly very comfortable to do. I have found myself communicating more often with people on snapchat through video, especially my buddy Kevin Hunsperger. (AKA on Snapchat: hunsperger)
Your Gateway Drug Chart
- Weed – Snapchat Video
- Cocaine – Instagram Video and Live
- Meth – Facebook Live
As I became more comfortable with Snapchat Video (Gateway Drug), it made me feel more comfortable to do Facebook Lives, Instagram Videos/Live, and even Facebook Live Interviews.
With online Video Content making up 85% of the internet traffic, any business, organization, or influencer needs to take it serious. You might think you are behind the curve with so many already utilizing it, but with recent updates and new features being added consistently, it’s NEVER too late.
