The Power Behind Good Brainstorming

Every good marketer has those days when the creative ideas don’t seem to streamline from our brains to our work. When you’ve hit your wits end, it’s time to start brainstorming.

Brainstorming is a great technique to gain a different perspective of the content you are writing and spark some new, creative ideas.

It’s time to get your work family together and get started!

Create an Objective

Before you start thinking of ideas, come up with a clear objective that you want to accomplish. Do you want to increase Facebook page likes or just need some fresh ideas for content? When you have a goal in mind, it can keep your brainstorming sessions organized.

Think of Something Off the Wall

Sometimes the best content can come from off the wall ideas. Whether you are searching for a campaign idea or every day content, let your ideas be heard no matter how crazy they may seem. One crazy idea can turn a light bulb on (no pun intended) and spark a thought for a great campaign.

Write All Ideas Down

With so many ideas, don’t rely on your brainpower to store them all. It’s easy to forget about the million dollar idea 3 months down the road. During each brainstorming session, type or write down the ideas that are discussed. This will ensure that no idea goes unnoticed or forgotten.

Don’t Spend Too Much Time on One Idea

In the heat of the moment, it can be easy to get burnt out on ideas. According to an article written by Dean Rieck, a successful brainstorming session should take around 15 to 45 minutes with some breaks in between. Be aware of the time and try to get the creative thinking done within a certain time frame.

When you make a living off of being creative, it’s ok to have the moments when you are out of ideas. Brainstorming isn’t a sign of defeat, it’s an opportunity to get back on track.
