From Classrooms to Clients

My Transition From a Student to a Professional

When I graduated from Southern Illinois University last May, I was ready to conquer the world. I had reached the point that I had been working towards for 4 years. I was ready to apply the advertising skills that I had learned to a real world job. Now came the hard part… finding an advertisinsocial-media-blog-writingg job in Southern Illinois. After applying for several positions, I received a message in August about coming in for a third interview with Harness Digital Marketing.

Fast-forward to one month later and I can honestly say that I couldn’t be happier with my decision. I’ve earned the title of Senior Digital Marketing Specialist at Harness Digital Marketing. Throughout this journey thus far, I never knew that I would learn so much within the first month. Here are some unexpected things that I’ve learned about not only the company itself but myself as well.

Taking on 12 clients with various professions is no biggie!

When I first heard that I would possibly take on 12 clients at one time, to be honest it scared me! How in the world would I be able to come up with that much content and make it successful? After being thrown head first into it, I love working with all of my clients. They have opened my eyes to aspects of their occupations that I wouldn’t have ever known if I hadn’t taken this job.

I’ve enjoyed connecting and building relationships in order to become part of their team. Helping their businesses grow through my posts on various social mharness-digital-marketingedia accounts is the most gratifying and fulfilling feeling that I could ever experience.

Networking is key!

After attending a few networking events, I’ve come to realize that it is all about building relationships with not only my clients but with people in the community as well. When I first mentioned that I worked at Harness Digital Marketing, it was like a light bulb went off (no pun intended). I was now associated with a company that has built a positive reputation in the Southern Illinois community. I’ve enjoyed meeting new people and love supporting local charities by attending events I would have never thought of attending.

I can come to work and love what I do! harness-digital-marketing

Confucius once quoted, “Do something you love and you’ll never work a day in your life.” I can say that without a doubt that I love coming into work everyday. I love being part of a team that shares the same passion as I do! Through the good and bad days, I know that they have my back and will help me through any situation that this position throws at me. I’m honored to be part of a company that continues to push the limits and prosper. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for Harness Digital Marketing.

So, there you have it. I have survived the first month of my first “big girl” job. Through the ups and downs of this month, I’ve learned so much about being a Digital Marketing Specialist. I can’t wait to see what the upcoming months have in store for me!
